Quiaclazques Healing
What is Quiaclazques healing?
Limpia, or spiritual cleansing and blessing
Traditional Nahua healing…
is an authentic, time-honored spiritual healing system indigenous to the highlands of central Mexico. A healer in this tradition works in relationship with the healing forces of nature as manifested in a variety of forms including Catholic saints to address the spiritual root causes of illness and imbalance in all layers of a person’s being: body, mind, and spirit. Traditional Nahua-Mexican Catholic healing is beneficial for physical illnesses, relationship issues, issues of life purpose and focus, and emotional and spiritual issues. Developed out of thousands of years of living, dreaming and engaging with the world and the natural cycles of living, this medicine has been known to bring deep and lasting healing, life-balance and beneficial transformation to the recipient.
The particular lineage of Nahua healing Adam and Erin practice comes through their Granicero or Weather Work tradition. As trained and initiated healers in this lineage, Adam and Erin are each known by the title Quiaclazques and by other names indicating their roles as weather workers and healers. Some of these names indicate working with Time or Cycles, like the designations tiemperos, or trabajadores del tiempo in the Spanish language.
Becoming a Quiaclazques is a divine calling. After experiencing life events like a lightning strike, special dreams or strange illnesses, the candidate’s calling to a spiritual path of working with weather is recognized by an acknowledged lineage elder in this ancient tradition. Then, the person is initiated. After proving their devotion and dedication to their work over time, the calling to walk the healing path of this tradition may arise.
Our Lady of Guadalupe is often called upon to provide solace, restoration and deep healing to patients.
The journey to become Quiaclazques involves an ancient process of building relationships with sacred medicine sites like Tepeyacac and Teotihuacan in Mexico City and forms like mountains, caves, and the Heavens. Through this time-honored process, these forces work through the Quiaclazques to bring healing to those in need. If, after years of intense training, pilgrimage, ceremony and sacrifice, the candidate proves to the tradition, leaders and ancestors their dedication and capacity to become a healer, then after a final initiatory process, they are ordained and then bring this ancient medicine from the living natural world home to their community.
Treasured time with your healer at the sacred altar
What is a Quiaclazques Healing Session Like?
Sitting with the healer at their traditional altar, you’ll share your troubles and receive counseling and often a spiritual cleaning called a limpia. Limpias come in a variety of forms, depending on your condition and needs.
Your healer may prescribe specialized sessions including soul-work, temazcalli sweat lodge ritual, and other healing ceremonies including an ancient ritual for trauma healing. You may be advised to receive a spiritual cleaning for your home or land.
The healer will often provide specific life guidance and “homework” to strengthen and heal you on your path. Regular healing appointments for a time and then seasonal sessions are often recommended to support balance and renewal.
