A Prayer

These words are dedicated to Ometeotl (Creator/Creation).

Filled with meaning, the slings and arrows of my life are part of the Guiding Force to which I submit my own will. May my will serve these beneficial powers.

Divine has many faces to which I bring my surrendered ego and my praises.

Captured by telescope, these “Pillars of Creation” are an expression of our cosmos.

Great Forces of Life, I am grateful for all I am experiencing, all I have experienced and all I will experience in the future. You have transformed something unformed in me into blessing and benefit, and I am here to sing your praises.

You are making a new creature in me through the burning fire and holy waters of your infinite Love. I am so grateful that you never take your eyes off of me, even through all of the pain; you still provide me with help and answers.

Within me, you are making a sacred temple of spirit, mind and body. I have gone through your great flames, I have been frozen in the cold of isolation, and now, through your eternal Wisdom, I have been transformed into a humble Nightingale eternally following my Eagle. I will never be distracted from my purpose of singing your praises throughout my life.

Your boundaries and transformations comfort me, as I learn my place.

You have cleared and organized the path before me, sweeping away the dead leaves with your sacred broom and opening the way. The light of your fire illuminates my steps, and your guidance compels me. You have filled my Temple with the copal incense of Benediction, a blessing that dissolves and sanctifies what was previously harmful: deceit, fear, despair and ill-will. The static of outside elements of discord dissolves in the rays of your perfect Courage and Love.

Your Fire transforms and burns away what is no longer needed and turns chaos and filth into nourishment and new growth.

My hands and heart are instruments of your Charity and Blessing. Always, I follow your ways, feeding the flames of your sacred Fire with my Sacrifice and Learning.

I bring forth through my Hands and Heart the Love and Mercy that you have given me. I am yours, and all I long for is to bring beauty and satisfaction to you through humble and beautiful works inspired by You, nourished by your sacred soil, vital warming rays, and the jewels of your Rain.

May the creations of my life be verdant and green with your Jade and Turquoise blessings. May my community thrive in this abundance. May those I love, and all human beings, be touched, inspired and blessed by your hope, your wisdom and the sacred story rising up from the ashes of past generations. My gratitude meets the miracle of your Generosity with humility and amazement. I feel unworthy to even see your sunrise, and yet you have already created a miracle even as I arise each day. Thank you for giving me this life and all it contains.

Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it.

Inspired by a heartfelt prayer left for my husband and me as we connected with Grandmother Ocean in Puerto Rico in 2025.
